Blount International produces outdoor equipment parts and accessories for 110 countries worldwide. Mainly saw chain, guide bars, and sprockets for chainsaws. Inventing then optimizing the modern saw chain over the past 80 years has yielded highly diverse manufacturing equipment across our global network. In an effort to reduce operational complexity, Blount is deploying the PI System as its globally unified manufacturing data system, in which the intent, interpretation, and presentation of data is consistent across all production sites. Each equipment deployment is led and supported by a global team. An "Equipment Add Form" and growing collection of standards, regarding network connection, PLC programming, KPI calculation in AF Analytics, PI Vision display design, etc., are followed and accessible on an internal website. End users are empowered with data in the form of PI Vision displays, PI Datalink reports, and EFs + Notifications to achieve each team’s unique goals.
