Description

As part of Cargill’s continuous improvement journey, we invest in process control initiatives as a driver for process optimization with the goal of enhancing product yield and quality, and energy and water consumption, while adhering to safe operating limits.

One of the major challenges in implementing process control improvements is achieving long-term sustainability. Oftentimes performance of control improvements peak shortly after implementation and slips back to a sub-optimal level over time. We realized that, in order to sustain the gains from these initiatives, a control loop performance-monitoring solution (CLPM) was required.

Cargill partnered with Control Station to implement PlantESP, a CLPM solution, which leverages OSIsoft’s PI System to calculate loop performance metrics and provides visibility to a variety of users. Our talk will describe Cargill’s global deployment of PlantESP for plant-wide control loop monitoring at over 85 facilities across different businesses.
