The world is changing and IoT is driving the proliferation of low-cost devices with the ability for real-time analytics and storage at the edge of networks. As more and more data are created at the edge, it is imperative that the data stored on those devices becomes an asset and not another data silo. New capabilities for real-time data analysis and decision-making at the edge must be deployed in order to minimize time to value, to reduce transmission costs and to overcome latencies involved in moving the data elsewhere. The OSIsoft Edge Data Store is a new storage technology that is used to provide real-time data storage at the Edge of networks. The Edge Data Store provides the necessary infrastructure to serve real-time data to Edge applications while providing seamless data transfer into OSIsoft’s larger real-time systems such as the PI Server or OSIsoft Cloud Services. In this presentation, we’ll cover what the Edge Data Store is and how you can create applications at the edge of networks. Finally, we’ll show you how to use Edge Data Store to extend applications from the Edge to the Enterprise or the Cloud.
