DAY 2: Life Sciences

Congress Hall, K3
Wednesday, September 18, 2019
9:00 AM - 9:15 AM
Welcome/Intro by Industry Principal/Champion
Welcome to the Life Sciences Industry Day
9:15 AM - 10:00 AM
Smart Building IoT Platform (Roche / OctaveSoft GmbH)
In our talk we show how we use PI as an IOT Platform for smart building operation. As soon as information about a building is readily available and consumable with various client applications, topics like energy saving, building usage optimization etc. can be easily tackled. PI is the foundation layer for all these topics in our environment, and we can both get fast access to all kinds of data thanks to the multitude of interfaces and connectors available, as well get a metadata structure implemented in PI AF - in some cases even automatically. Our energy savings use case was implemented with the tools from Seeq,
10:15 AM - 11:00 AM
Approach for implementing the PI Data Infrastructure across pharmaceutical production sites (LEO Pharma)
The presentation details how LEO Pharma are implementing a global PI Data Infrastructure across 6 production sites. LEO has initiated an ambitious plan of Digitalizing the Production to meet future challenges, which includes establishing a common Production Data Platform, thereby unlocking the potential for e.g. yield optimizations and process improvements.

We will follow the project from the initial considerations, to a pilot system implementation, through the current state of the ongoing project, and end with our future expectations for the completed setup. It will be a full walk through of a ‘greenfield’ setup of a central historian system covering 6 plants, highlighting the importance of a tight scope on building the Data Warehouse, not on using data. AF/EF flexibility enables this decoupling, decisions on server landscapes, Qualification Approach, Source Systems, Rollout, AF/EF setup, Lifecycle and Stakeholder management.
11:15 AM - 12:00 PM
Rapid Deployment of a Real-Time Multivariate Process Monitoring System (Takeda)
This presentation summarizes the rapid deployment of a real-time multivariate process monitoring system and at Takeda leveraging the data from OSIsoft PI. It will cover the entire process starting from system conceptualization to implementation of SIMCA Online, which took less the 9 months. The talk identifies the OSIsoft PI system configurations within Takeda that enabled the quick implementation as well as the challenges overcome including shifting the company culture. Finally, it examines the use of the SIMCA Online system for ensuring process consistency during a tech transfer of a process from a CMO to an internal manufacturing facility.
1:45 PM - 2:30 PM
Journey Deploying Data Analytics for Manufacturing Insights (Lonza/Seeq)
Lonza’s analytics journey began with the OSIsoft PI system - investing in Asset Framework, Event Frames, and PI Vision. In 2018, Lonza Specialty Ingredients expanded analytics to their entire engineering community. This enabled experts to have 24/7 live access to the plant´s performance, run statistical methods, create models for predictive analytics, and save these onto a standard dashboard for monitoring. Lonza now considers this a true enterprise analytics solution with the industry’s best-in-class infrastructure platform, OSIsoft PI.

The results have been overwhelming. Access to insights and the number of empowered engineers in the plant have grown exponentially as OSIsoft PI System data has become even more valuable. The paper will present the implementation of the OSIsoft PI System and Seeq in Lonza to deliver an advanced analytics solution in the organization. Included will be testimonials, use cases, and example Seeq dashboards from users from different segments at Lonza.
2:45 PM - 3:30 PM
Deployment of the PI System and Advanced Analytics in Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing (Janssen and Sartorius Stedim Data Analytics)
Throughout biopharmaceutical manufacturing non-conformances, product loss and quality is impacted through unforeseen issues. Applying analytics in real-time has revolutionized the way in which Janssen approach and prevent unwanted deviations in manufacturing.
Projects at the Leiden and Cork large molecule sites align with Manufacturing For the Future (MFF) to deliver customer value and enable business growth and profitability. The PI System and SIMCA-online are cornerstones of this program providing infrastructure and a real-time view of process execution. Open loop optimization suggests set-points for manipulated variables during operation to meet objectives such as maximizing yield, steady production rate, or optimizing CQA’s.
The talk will highlight how the capability to process live data is now a requisite for successful realization of Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) in pursuit of improved industrial performance, with benefits in efficiency, lesser costs and reduced risk.
3:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Osisoft Integration with Rockwell Automation Pharmasuite (HME AG/Rockwell)
How to save time, improve process and product quality by Golden batch analysis and CPV utilizing the new OSISoft Rockwell Pharmasuite PI interface
4:15 PM - 4:45 PM
Strategy for digitalization in GMP environment: The Ferrer Group's journey (Interquim / AG Solution)
How does an organization reduce paper records, comply with data integrity and ensure process traceability in a regulated environment? These are the challenges that Interquim was facing. They were solved by implementing a robust data infrastructure with the PI System as the core layer for data collection and contextualization.
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Life Sciences User Group Meeting
Industry User Group Meeting
