9:15 AM - 10:00 AM
Using the PI System to manage energy for a more sustainable future at Toyota Motor Europe (TME)
As a world leading automotive and mobility company, Toyota committed to preserve the environment and drive sustainability across the company and its supply-chain through an ambitious challenge targeting a global zero CO2 impact by 2050. A key point of our strategy is to manage and continuously optimize our manufacturing processes energy usage. The PI System is helping our teams to achieve this goal by collecting energy data along with production planning and weather data in our eight European manufacturing plants to better identify reduction opportunities. This talk will give an overview of how we use PI System in our daily activities, what are the main challenges we are dealing with, what has been accomplished so far and what we are planning as next steps on our way toward a carbon free business.
10:15 AM - 11:00 AM
How Sandvik Coromant uses PI in production
How Sandvik Coromant uses PI in production
11:15 AM - 12:00 PM
Data Quality improvement (DNV GL)
The presentation will initially cover how DNV GL as a class registrar is adapting to the digitalization trends in the business areas where we are present. Why it means that we are establishing digital class inspection regimes and why we are engaging with data collection infrastructure providers like OSIsoft.

The main focus of the talk is to share an approach to discussing the foundations of good or bad data quality in instrumented data collection infrastructures using concepts and terms familiar to the OSIsoft community. The talk will explain how actual impacts of bad data quality can be traced back to these concepts and facilitate improvement in the apporpriate areas. The talk will offer perspectives on best practices.
1:45 PM - 2:30 PM
Predictive Maintenance for the heat treatment industry with PI in its center
IVA Schmetz created an IoT platform to offer PdM for their customers’ heat treatment equipment. This gives insights into the technical setup of the platform and corresponding usage of the OSIsoft Pi System. By networking machines, states and processes can be viewed from anywhere, necessary maintenance can be planned and downtimes can be minimized.
Data acquisition with a third party solution is inserting data into a central PI system, where the data is managed with Pi AF and pushed forward to an advanced analytics environment. Any result is inserted into the Pi System again to be able to use Pi Vision to visualize the raw data and gained insights. The integration of the PI System as a central component of IVA Schmetz’ IoT platform quickly enabled a functioning system for predicting arising error conditions.
2:45 PM - 3:30 PM
Panel Discussion - Digital Twins
All transportation equipment begin life on the CAD table before starting its journey through discrete manufacturing plants into the hands of supply chain operations. Modern digital models are created at every step of this process and connecting those data sets and models are key to a "whole data life-cycle". Using this data across its life (cradle to grave) has been a vision for many companies that is now coming into reality. Our joint industry meet up with discuss how the PI Community can bring these worlds together and increase the value of operational data across the asset life-cycle. Strategic partners and innovative customers are encouraged to share what they are doing and how knowledge and collaboration can lead to faster results.
3:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Industry Meet Up - Continuing the Discussion
Continuing the Digital Twins Discussion. Syncing things up. Our joint industry meet up with discuss how the PI Community can bring these worlds together and increase the value of operational data across the asset life-cycle. Strategic partners and innovative customers are encouraged to share what they are doing and how knowledge and collaboration can lead to faster results.
